Mixed by David Piccioni - Azuli presents Miami ‘11.
Azuli expertly compounds the underground soundtrack to Miami
Azuli, the dance music label respected by clubbers and DJs around the world has recently been re-launched. It’s the label that brought us some of dance music’s best known classics; Bini & Martini ‘Happiness’ and Afro Medusa ‘Pasilda’, and boasts artists ranging from David Morales to Andy Cato (Groove Armada) and Fatboy Slim. It’s fair to say that every respectable DJ has more than a few cuts from Azuli in his wallet. Along with the famed parties and underground single releases, Azuli is also revered for its annual Miami compilation. Without doubt it is one of the biggest and most eagerly anticipated albums on the clubbing calendar. This is down to the seriously upfront and unforgettable records selected each year, this year being no exception; For tasters try out Tom Middleton’s new track ‘Cicadas’ and the Henrik Schwarz Remix of Emmanuel Jal’s ‘Kuar’.
This year’s offering has been compiled and mixed by legendary label head Dave Piccioni. Piccioni hand picks standout gems according to the label’s simple ethos: ‘to present the cooler edge of the dance scene without being too underground”. For 2011 he offers up a solid two CD mix that is pacey and techy in parts with a bit of electro thrown in. Look out for Stefano Noferini ‘Move Your Body’, as well as Haji & Emanuel ‘Weekend’ (Marco Lys Remix). The album also features brand new sounds from Afrojack, Jeremy Olander, Monica Kruse and Nouveau Yorican plus Maya Jane Coles, Reboot, and label staple Roul and Doors appear on remix duties. David Piccioni, a former ice cream man in Huddersfield, is undisputedly now the master of the Miami big tune.
