'Playboy Sessions' Series from Defected Records Captures the Music and Mystique of the Playboy Club

June 21, 2010 – Defected Records, a house music label based in the UK, and Playboy, one of the world’s leading lifestyle brands, have partnered once again to release the new “Playboy Sessions” series – a collection of CD mixes that captures the music and mystique of the world famous Playboy Club. The first title in the series is “Playboy Sessions: Las Vegas.”
The inspiration for the double CD mix comes from Las Vegas, the original ‘Sin City’ and the ultimate hedonistic party destination. In the heart of Vegas you’ll find a spectacular monument to the Playboy brand in the Playboy Club and Casino located on the 52nd floor of the Palms' Fantasy Tower. The tower has a larger-than-life neon Playboy Rabbit Head overlooking the Las Vegas strip, and it is here where you will find the beautiful Playboy Bunnies as croupiers and cocktail servers, wearing updated Bunny Costumes specially designed by Roberto Cavalli. This new album is a reflection of the music played both outdoors at the Palms Casino Resort poolside cabanas and at the Playboy Club into the late hours of the evening. The CDs are split into two distinctively different mixes. “Palms Poolside” slows down the pace and brings a more relaxed tone featuring tracks from nu-disco king Tensnake, soulful house impresario Randy Rivera, and global house and breaks DJ Jean Jacques Smoothie (with a reworking of the classic track “2 People”). The second mix, “Playboy Club and Casino” is an upbeat mix of seductive vocals and intoxicating rhythm with tracks from the Shapeshifters, ATFC and Chocolate Puma, as well as summer anthems “Why Don’t You” by Gramaphonedzie and “Phazing” from Dirty South.
The release of “Playboy Sessions: Las Vegas” is part of Playboy’s year-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Playboy Club and Playboy Bunny. Playboy also commemorated the milestone with a uniquely-commissioned art exhibition at The Andy Warhol Museum; a retrospective features in the July issue of the magazine and on Playboy.com and Playboy Radio; newly-designed Bunny-inspired merchandise available at www.playboyclubstore.com; and the highlight of the celebration – more than 50 Playboy Club parties around the world on June 10 and 11, 2010.
Future “Playboy Sessions” albums in the destination series are planned as Playboy continues to expand its presence in clubs and casinos around the globe. Defected Records past collaborations included the release of “Bob Sinclar: Live at the Playboy Mansion” and “Dimitri from Paris: Return to the Playboy Mansion.”
