Marc Marzenit IN CONCERT is the new project of our incomparable Marc and an ambitious proposal that stems from his holistic vision of electronic music. It is the integration of three different musical elements: acoustic instruments, analogue and digital platforms. On the eve of this highly-anticipated presentation, Marc has shared his thoughts with us:
How did you come up with the idea of combining these three diverse musical spectrums?
Actually, those are instruments that I have been using for quite some time now; I played the piano at the conservatory, I use synthesizers in my studio and an iPhone at my live acts, but never all at the same time. When Combeback Festival suggested that I do a special live act, I thought it was time to experiment with all those instruments at once.
At the concert, how do these three elements interpenetrate and complement each other musically?
The truth is they complement each other perfectly. The piano gives depth and reality, because to incorporate such a classic element is to take away the prejudices of electronic music sequencing. The synthesizers allow sound layers to be covered by space textures, melodies and aggressive bass-lines, and finally the iPhone is an element that allows me to control the sounds of my computer from anywhere in the festival, either from the piano, in front of the crowd or even among them..
