One of the most important and recognisable brands in world of clubbing today. Launched in 1995, the label has continued to release material with some of the highest profile artists in the industry ever since, always evolving with a forward thinking sound.
Renaissance's standards have always remained uncompromisingly high, with a roster that sees Christian Smith joining other artists of unparalleled standing in the industry, such as John Digweed, Sander Kleinenberg, Hernan Cattaneo, James Zabiela, Steve Lawler etc.
The first album in the series (title tbc): "Renaissance Presents: Christian Smith", will be released in September 2009, and will be supported with a 30+ date world tour, covering Europe, Asia, Australia, North & South America.
In support of the compilation and world tour Renaissance will also release a Christian Smith single - "Higienopolis" - in October 2009.
UPCOMING RELEASES
2008 was a huge year for Christian Smith, with "Total Departure" (Drumcode) crossing over into virtually every major DJ's record box, becoming one of the biggest selling dance singles, and featuring at the top of the best of the year charts in DJ Mag, DMC Update, and on Beatportal ("one of the most devastatingly brilliant peak-time destroyers of 2008" - Beatportal), and many more.
Now, it's looking like 2009 will be an even bigger year!
Christian Smith re-launched his seminal Tronic label in March 2009 with remixes of the classic " Move!". This reached #4 in Beatport's overall sales chart, selling over 6000 downloads, and was #1 in the Tech House chart for over 3 weeks.
The next Christian Smith & John Selway production to be unleashed on Tronic - "Work It" (TR39), features a superb remix by Fergie which is already being played by Dubfire, James Zabiela and Carl Cox, and is released 25th May 2009
John Digweed has signed two big new singles to his renowned Bedrock label. The first: Christian Smith & John Selway - "Mistral", with an Anton Pieete remix, is set for release at the end of June.
This will be followed in mid-July by another stunning Christian Smith & Smith & John Selway production - "Manfreak" - has been snapped up by Mauro Picotto for his Alchemy label.
With the follow-up to last year's massive "Total Departure" hit forthcoming on Adam Beyer's Drumcode label (more news soon), the follow-up to last year's "Push Factor" release on Dubfire's Sci+Tec label also nearing completion, and remixes planned for Dubfire and Steve Angello, it's certainly shaping up to be a massive year for Christian Smith!
Christian Smith : DJ Dates
Christian Smith has confirmed festival appearances this summer at UK's Global Gathering, Japan's Wire Festival ("20,000 people in one room at a sports arena going totally bonkers to underground house and techno is amazing. Its very nice to see that there are still "sold out" events that do not require big commercial acts or trance" - Christian Smith), and Hungary's Mayday, with more festivals to be announced soon. Confirmed club dates include Ibiza's Privilege, Singapore's Zouk, and Brazil's Warung etc.
