Joel Mull kommt zu IMD DJs
In Kürze: Mit Bravour kündigten die Jungs von IMD soeben an, dass sie nun exklusiv die Bookings vom Schwede Joel Mull – oder besser bekannt als der Swedish Techno-Soul-Master – verwalten werden.

Joel has been on the scene for over 10 years now and is best known as “The Swedish Techno Soul”. 1991 was the year and a crazy outdoor rave was the setting - a young and impressionable Joel’s attention was stolen then and there by the exhilarating and invigorating music which he had never experienced before. It wasn’t long before Joel began sourcing House and Techno music himself from local record shops, and along with school friend Adam Beyer, he soon had the DJ bug. His first release, 12” techno track ‘Slaughter House’ was a collaboration with Adam back in 1993, released on New York label, Direct Drive. From then on there was no looking back for 19 year old Joel!
Joel’s DJ career really took off in the mid ‘90’s, playing the underground clubs in and around Stockholm. News travelled fast when new venue ‘Unit Club’ in Hamburg wanted young fresh talent to take the helm. Joel fitted the bill perfectly and so it was here where he really began his journey, shaping in to the talented techno DJ that we know today, gaining valuable experience playing alongside many prominent international DJ’s. By 1997 Joel had moved back to Sweden. By 1998, ‘Inside Records’ was born and Joel was able to release quality tunes from his own studio, which just happened to be underneath the record shop Planet Rhythm. He worked there alongside old friend Adam, Jesper Dahlback and Cari Lekebusch, providing Sweden and the world with freshly pressed techno vinyl. Everything revolved around records for Joel – playing them, selling them, producing them.
Speeding up to more present times and Joel is the most talked about talent in the techno world. He has held residency at the sell out Drumcode label parties, which have been touring worldwide, for the past 7 years. He has also had numerous releases and collaborations with artists such as Sean Palm, Vincenzo and Xpansul. 2007 was especially a big year for Joel, releasing his album ‘The Observer’ on Harhouse which was greatly received and led to live performances at many prestigious clubs around the globe, including Japan and North America. He integrated Ableton live into his DJ set’s and used the 3D mixer from Allen & Heath to combine the two systems - the result was spectacular.
In 2008, Joel remixed and released mighty singles such as ‘The Face Up’ on Nic Fancuilli’s Saved Records and ‘Red light of Dawn’ on Audiomatique, which then got licensed to Steve Lawlers VIVA series.
2009 is looking very hot for Joel and the final justification of his immense talent has come with Cocoon, the seminal techno label asking Joel for tracks. Cocoon, Truesoul, Audiomatique, Drumcode, Saved, Harthouse, Railyard recordings… just some of the platforms who love Joels work. His tunes are played by many of the key figures in the electronic dance community; DJs such as Laurent garnier, Sasha, Digweed, Adam Beyer, Loco Dice, Carl Cox, Steve Rachmad, Steve Lawler, Heiko Laux and Nic Fancuilli are all big supporters of his sound.
Now signed to Club Class Music Management and DJ agency IMD, his every expanding diary of events will be taken to the next level – Joel is most definitely one to keep your eye on in 2009. Check out IDJ Miami Edition in March featuring a triple page spread on Joel with a cover mount CD!
