After three years since his last single release the anticipation for this track could not be greater and with support from heavyweight DJ’s such as James Zabiela and John Digweed, it’s clear Darren has not disappointed!
‘Crash Jack’ could simply be described as a no-nonsense, club smash. It’s clear Darren had his Techno roots in mind at the conception of the record owing to its Detroit-leaning synths and sharp percussive overtones. An incessant riff drives the track forward in a stomping electro fashion while fizzled flashes of synthesis crash playfully in and out of the mix as Darren hints at the massive breakdown that’s to follow. This is the kind of track a DJ could build their set around and is capable of providing a real ‘impact’ moment should the mood of the dance floor dictate it.
Majik Johnson’s remix takes a slightly funkier but no less club-orientated approach. The bassline shakes-up the bottom frequencies alongside a vibrant selection wiggling synths that offer the listener some tasty ear candy. For that hands-skyward moment, the breakdown is still retained but with a shifted emphasis of sound and generous lashings of reverb to boot.
Darren’s ‘Uruguay’ and ‘Singapore’ mixes for the Global Underground series were revered by fans and critics alike so it is with genuine excitement we announce that Darren’s third Global Underground compilation will follow later this year. This seems like perfect time for Darren and Global Underground to rekindle their long-standing and fruitful musical relationship – long may it reign!

1) Kate@IMD: How would describe the sound of your new single Crash Jack?
Darren: Slamming! It's made for the dance floor and is designed to be a real moment in my sets when I play it out. Its been getting some great feedback so I am really happy.
2) Kate: The single has a very peak time feel to it. Was it always intended for serve this purpose?
Darren: Absolutely! It does what it says on the tin. It's a dance record to make people dance.
3) Kate: What can we expect musically from your upcoming Global Underground mix?
Darren: I'm compiling tracks at the moment to short list for the playlist so I can't really answer that yet. I put a lot of time and preparation into these mixes. I want the album to be the best it can be, the best tunes mixed to the best of my ability. So I'm scouting about as we speak, calling around all the producer’s whose music I love and putting there tunes into the pot.
4) Kate: With your new single and the Global mix coming up, can we expect a surge new material?
Darren: Yeah. I've got another single planned to follow Crash Jack as well as the Global mixes and there will be more to follow. I've been stockpiling tracks for the last few years and now it’s time to get them out.
5) Kate: Are there any upcoming shows that you’re particularly looking forward to?
Darren: I've got an Australian tour coming up which will take me to all the major cities there and wherever we end up recording the Global album will be a good night..
