Music Studio Installed on Tour Bus
World renowned international DJs and producers, Steve Lawler, Tiefschwarz and Audiofly are confirmed to join forces for the landmark VIVA MUSIC TOUR this Autumn. The North American tour dates kick off in Montreal on October 16, 2008 and finishes on November 1, 2008 in Miami.
Sponsored by leading electronic music website, Beatport, a state of the art music studio will be installed on the tour bus. All three artists will be creating original music and remixes while on the road which will be released later through Lawler’s label, Viva Music and distributed by Beatport. Beatport will also provide marketing and daily coverage of the tour on their website, Beatportal.com.
Steve Lawler explains, “We will be touring across the United States and Canada on a tour bus, but what makes this tour unique is that all the artists, myself, Tiefschwarz and Audiofly, will have access to a studio on the bus, and will be making an EP of tracks together. It is very exciting to know that when we finish a gig and we are all hyped up from the crowd, we can continue to create music once we are on the road to our next destination. What better time! And five heads are certainly better than one, I think some really amazing music is going to come from this. With a line up of amazing venues with great sound systems, and the studio set up on the tour bus, I am very excited about this tour."
Ali and Basti from Tiefschwarz continue, “Staying on a tour bus is something new for us but we love the idea of jumping into the bus right after the show and getting on the road to the next city right away - no driving to airports, no check in, no stop-over, no security lines. Then to have the chance to work on music together in the studio on the bus is an amazing opportunity.
All of this will help increase Tiefschwarz’s profile in America and in the electronic music community – it’s great to see how the scene is developing over the last few years!”
ARTIST INFO
During the early 1990’s Steve Lawler began DJing and throwing illegal parties in his hometown of Birmingham, England. Since then, Lawler has earned residencies all over the world, crowned ‘King of Space’ for his legendary residency at the world’s most famous Sunday club Space, and has released eleven compilations and several singles and remixes including recent classics on Ovum and Sci+Tek. His sound has evolved through the years although the main elements still remain, meandering through deep, dark, sexy house tracks. Still evolving and innovative, Lawler is at the forefront of global dance music and is touring in support of his latest CD, Viva Toronto, released July 8, 2008 through Ultra Records.
Ali and Basti Schwarz, brothers and music lovers, created Tiefschwarz out of a passion garnered since 1990 from their first experiences as DJs at the now legendary clubs that Ali ran in Stuttgart, Germany "ON -U" (1990 - 1993) and "Red Dog" (1993 - 1997). These experiences and their obsession with the music they were hearing from within and across the German border, encouraged them to make the step from DJ to producer. Now based in Berlin, Tiefschwarz has released various artist albums, compilations, singles, and mixes and they run their own label, Souvenir. In 2008, the brothers have completed an Underworld remix, a Mixmag covermount mix CD, a track called “Liquid Cherries” which is to be exclusively released on Cocoon in Japan only and are currently working on a single on Souvenir, expected later this year.
Following a chance meeting of two aspiring DJ/producers, Anthony Middleton and Luca Saporito, back in 2002, Audiofly was born. Citing influences from the more melodic sides of techno and electronic house, this Anglo-Italian double act managed to forge their own unique sound made up of deep basslines, concise kicks, jolting riffs and atmospheric, captivating melodies. Warm yet sharp, rocking yet smooth, their sound has seen them rise through dance music’s ranks to become one of the most talked about and sought after artists to come out of London in recent years. They have collaborated under a number of guises including Rekleiner (with Mulletover’s Geddes), Sleeper Thief (with Miss Jools), SLAAF (with Steve Lawler) and Opus Ink (with Satoshi Tomiie), bringing the best out of themselves and those who they work with.
