Angel Molina opens Zen Club’s Classic Series

We counldn’t wait for the new year to start a new project we’ve been preparing for the last months. We say hello to year 2008 looking back: we introduce you to the Classic Series, a personal vision of the classic tunes of electronic music by a selection of musicians and disc-jockeys who have known this tracks first-hand, who played them when they were new, who helped them become classics. And at the same time, these tracks shaped the taste and career of these DJs, and helped them become what they are now.

And what best than starting these Classic Series with a host like Angel Molina? His curriculum vitae runs in parallel to the evolution of techno. To talk about his career is to tell the story of electronic music in Spain and the world. With a meagre output as a producer or when giving us mix-CDs (talking in numbers, not in quality; Wax Sessions I && II and Pasada profesional have recieved wide acclaim), Angel Molina is mostly admired for the principal reasons a disc-jockey ought to be admired: for his dexterity with the turntables, for his good taste, for his ability to distinguish real art from hype, for his intuition when placing the pieces of the puzzle and for his vision, his capacity to tell a story with records and to make people enjoy it, feel it, live it. But what am I saying? All this is obvious. Who has not dance to him playing records?

So, we’re proud to have Angel in the first of the Classic Series, next Sunday, December 30th. From now on, Classic Series will happen once a month in a Zen Club Sunday at City Hall..
