Erik Arbores: 14-year-old prodigy scores #1 hit

Vollständig: Amsterdam, September 27th 2011 – On the day of his very first release, 14-year-old Erik Arbores has reached the number one position in the main chart of the Dutch iTunes store. With the first position of his ‘Take It’ E.P., featuring three progressive house tracks, he currently beats names like David Guetta, Coldplay and Adele and finds himself in the legendary list of young and talented superstars like Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus and Willow Smith. The E.P. has been released by ZOUK Recordings, a sub label of Armada Music, yesterday and consists of the tracks Bliss, Take It and Transit.
Last night, the young talent, whose real name is Erik van den Boom, was invited to Dutch TV show ‘De Wereld Draait Door’ again, where his musical talent was discovered earlier this year. Erik introduced the crowd and one million viewers to ‘Bliss’, which already impressed the likes of DJ Armin van Buuren and radio stations such as Sirius XM in the US. Signed to Armada Music, Erik Arbores now looks back on a successful kick off of his career as a professional dance producer.
The young prodigy, who learned to play the piano at the age of four and taught himself how to produce with programs such as Fruity Loops, skipped four classes and passed his high school exams at the age of 13, five years before the average age in the Dutch school system. He gained a lot of media attention, including one of the most popular TV show in The Netherlands, ‘De Wereld Draait Door’. On the show, number 1 DJ Armin van Buuren judged his track and described him as ‘very talented’. Erik is now studying Applied Physics at the Delft University of Technology.
When it comes to producing music, Erik likes to keep it diverse. Erik:”I really like to mix genres and include several influences. I listen to lots of music, so that way I get my inspiration from different genres. I use dubstep beats in the break of a pop song for example. I like to experiment a lot, I use sound in another way than what it's meant for, for instance. That way my tracks differ from each other.“
