JOIN IN SANDER’S JOURNEY
There may not be a more fitting title for Sander Kleinenberg’s second single from his debut artist album ‘5K’. A title that completely sums up what Sander’s been through since he first broke into the big leagues just over a decade ago. A man who’s never stood still (or moved sideways for that matter), Sander’s journey has been bigger, wilder and louder than most people’s and it continues with this single, a collaboration with acclaimed Dutch production trio Kraak and Smaak – it’s ‘The Journey’.
“I always wanted to create a track that paid homage to the amazing Giorgio Moroder, that sense of timelessness that he created, a real analog electronic journey so to speak”. Explains Sander, “I reached out to my old buddies from Leiden, Kraak & Smaak and asked if they were up for it – luckily for me they were and The Journey came together in just a few hours in their studio. Ursula Rucker’s voice worked perfectly to emphasize the “journey” statement and after reaching out to King Britt, he gladly let us use it after Ursula re-recorded the vocals.”
An excited Sander continues, “When myself and Steve Dub finally got to the stage of mixing it down, we were able to recreate the synth solo by Oscar (Kraak & Smack) on a MiniMoog – creating a fine moment of analog bliss – well I think so anyway : )”
The results certainly leave you agreeing with Sander as he and the Kraak & Smaak boys take you on a seemingly never-ending, forever speeding-up workout of the highest order. This is much more than a nod of respect to Moroder, Gino Soccio et al, this is Sander doing what he does best – drawing from his inspirations and propelling them into the future. A masterpiece in jacking space disco.
Backed up with a red-hot remix package from Kolombo, Redondo & Sideburn and Kaap de Goede Hoop – this will be massive on just about every dance floor.
