To celebrate Armin’s coveted worldwide radio show A State of Trance (ASOT) notching up its milestone 500th show, on Saturday April 16, 2011, Sydney’s iconic Acer Arena will be transformed into a dance event of epic proportions as the Dutch maestro hosts one of just five very special global ASOT parties in the harbour city, filmed and broadcasted 100% LIVE.
Following on from last year’s infamous tour to celebrate the 450th ASOT show, 2011’s ASOT500 anniversary will see Armin raise the bar yet again in typical fashion. To mark this momentous occasion in suitable style, the biggest name in electronic music will travel to five continents (Africa, America, South America, Europe and Australia) over five weeks to play … you guessed it … five cities (Johannesburg, Miami, Buenos Aires, Den Bosch and *drumroll* Sydney!). It doesn’t get any bigger than this, folks …
Crowned the ‘Best DJ’ for the last four years running, there’s little doubt that Holland’s Armin Van Buuren is the BIGGEST DJ in the world today. A consummate master of Trance who has risen to superstardom via his sublime DJ skills and studio musical wizardry, Armin’s forward thinking Armada label group houses some of the world’s finest electronic dance music talent and is a veritable force to be reckoned with. Every industry has its leader and in the world of electronic dance music, there is no bigger name than Armin Van Buuren. The reigning #1 DJ in the world, Armin is a bonafide dance music phenomenon who commands a career that many can only dream of. Master of numerous music industry disciplines, Menno de Jong has already etched as many notches on the dance tree as someone twice his age. He has recorded for some of Europe’s biggest Trance labels and is the founder of lauded Dutch independent imprint, Intuition Recordings. A bona-fide Podcast pioneer, he’s produced and presented the widely syndicated, much-downloaded Intuition Radio show for the last 5 years. In 2009 he went back into DJ Magazine’s Top 100 Chart for the fourth successive year (at No. 56) and near-simultaneously took the No.13 position in Trance Addict’s Biggest 250 Trance DJs Poll. With his “Trance in the broadest sense” DJ and production mindset he is, without question, the next challenger to the Dutch dance throne.
Alex M.O.R.P.H (GER)
Standing out from the huge span of the world of trance DJs has never been a problem for Alex M.O.R.P.H. Combining an auditory arsenal of floor-jamming tracks (including his co-productions with Paul van Dyk and the club smash, Rank 1 collaboration ‘Life Less Ordinary’) with an enviable remix canon, which has of late has come to include global dance superstars Faithless; he brings pure floor essence to the party. Behind his bespoke Macbook/Ableton set-up, he cuts a commanding figure; a man who has confidently mixed his way around planet earth many times over. His club-rocking credentials beyond reproach, he’s smashed tent-pole events including Trance Energy, Mayday, Gatecrasher Summer Sound System, Nature One, Cream Ibiza & ASOT400. Aly & Fila (EG)
Since their burst onto the international clubbing consciousness with their massive hit “Eye of Horus” back in 2003, they have been a full-on inspiration to clubbers and DJs alike. Their euphoric, uplifting blend of sweeping trance has seen them rise to an A-list status alongside the likes of Armin Van Buuren, Blank & Jones, Ferry Corsten and many more. At the forefront of the next generation of dance music superstars, they’ve already broken through the worldwide clubbing spectrum. Tracks released on such as “Eye of Horus”, “Spirit of Ka”, “A Dream Of Peace”, “Ankh – Breath of Life” and “Thebes” have earned them worldwide critical acclaim from the press and fellow artists.
Shogun (USA)
American born Taiwanese DJ and Producer, Andrew Chen aka Shogun, has captivated audiences worldwide with his dj skills and productions. As the former resident dj of Ministry of Sound Nightclub, he has played alongside top DJ’s in the world such as Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, and BT just to name a few. His exclusive nine-hour sets at the super club set the standard for epic nights that can only be described as an emotional and amazing journey. He also has a long running radio show “Trancemission” which can be heard exclusively on Ensonic Radio, as well as a syndicated show called “The White Room Episodes” which broadcasts over a dozen stations globally. The future looks bright for Shogun and he is set to make a huge impact on the dance scene, so keep an eye out for this rising artist.
TyDi (AUS)
Since bursting onto the scene just a few short years ago, Australian Trance prodigy, TyDi (aka Tyson Illingworth), has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame. A rare musical talent who’s classically trained, the young Queenslander’s storming Trance tunes are today signed to some of the biggest labels in the world (including the likes of Armada Music, Trancetribe and AVA Recordings) and spun regularly by luminaries the ilk of Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Markus Schulz and Paul Van Dyk. The mastermind behind epic tracks like “Is It Cold?”, “Meet Me In Kyoto”, “Under The Stars” and “Calling”, this humble Aussie trance icon has seemingly done the lot: from collaborating with the new first lady of Trance, vocalist Audrey Gallagher, and playing to tens of thousands of screaming fans at Holland’s Trance Energy mega-party, to releasing his own full length artist album “Look Closer” and reaching the coveted #1 ranking in Australia’s inthemix Top 50 DJ Poll.
