Mowgli: releases 'La Lokomotiva'

Italian born DJ/producer Mowgli – AKA Michele Savasta - began his career in the north Italian village where he grew up. With few nightclubs to really get lost in and no happening music scene to speak of, Mowgli felt compelled to make his own sounds instead. It wasn’t long before his journey brought him to London. “I wanted to move to a bigger city and get a new life experience as in Italy it was hard to get gigs and London offered opportunities,” says Michele.

And now it’s time for Mowgli to shine on the ever-expansive More Music imprint. With a brilliant double-header called ‘La Lokomotiva’ made up of the jacking, groove-riding title track and a bouncy, tripped-out tech-house instrumental called ‘Questone di Feeling’ on the flip, what is it that defines Mowgli we wonder? “As a producer I would say, the groove is what makes me. My new releases – of which this is the first one – will be deeper than before as I focus on making high quality sounds.”

And what of the tracks themselves? “There’s nothing too poetic about it – I just wanted to make tracks that make people dance!” he laughs. “‘La Lokomotiva’ is just a hypnotic loop that lasts for 8 minutes and ‘…Feelings” is a tribute to the Chicago sound of the 90s with a modern touch.”

Inspired by producers like Derrick Carter and DJ Sneak back in the day, Mowgli has spent the past four years consistently creating high-level quality productions spanning many different genres of electronic dance music, making him one of most sought after producers worldwide - with remix requests from X-Press 2, Santogold, Armand Van Helden and Tricky amongst others. As for his More Music debut – well, let’s just say that we wouldn’t be surprised to hear Luciano, Sven Vath or Mr C getting behind these beauties in the weeks and months ahead.

Mowgli’s ‘La Lokomotiva’ will be released on More Music on February 7th 2011.
